North west affordable homes provider Onward Living has unveiled the first homes available for purchase at its latest development in Weston, Crewe.

The development, named Signaller’s Croft, will provide a mix of affordable tenures over the next two years, including Shared Ownership and Rent to Buy, helping people take their first step on the local property ladder.

Situated just ten minutes south-east of Crewe, Signaller’s Croft will offer homeowners the perfect balance between rural and urban living, with a variety of distinctive home styles to meet the needs of a range of purchasers, from first-time buyers and families to downsizers and commuters.

In collaboration with renowned national housebuilder Lovell, Onward Living is delivering high-quality, energy-efficient two, three and four-bedroom homes in terraced, semi-detached and detached styles.

The first eight homes to be released off-plan at Signaller’s Croft are the three-bedroom Hexham and Daisyfield house types, which are available for Shared Ownership. Homes start from £107,000 based on a 40% share (10%-75% shares also available) and can be secured with a deposit as low as £5,350.The 3-bedroom Hexham home at Signaller's Croft, Crewe

Shared Ownership gives first-time buyers and those who do not currently own a property the opportunity to secure a new build home. Homebuyers pay a mortgage on the share they own, and pay rent on the remaining share, meaning a smaller mortgage and deposit is required.

Then, when the time is right, the homeowners can purchase more shares through a process called staircasing, gradually increasing the ownership of the home over time.

Every home at Signaller’s Croft is built to an impressive specification and comes with high quality fittings throughout, including contemporary Symphony kitchens with integrated ovens, fridge freezers and dishwashers. Homes also include fully turfed gardens, off-street parking (including garages on some plots), and PV solar panels on selected homes.

Rebecca Curzon, sales advisor at Signaller’s Croft, said: “We are delighted to release the first homes for sale at this much-anticipated development.

“The homes at Signaller’s Croft really stand out from the crowd and meet a lot of the key criteria for buyers looking for their dream home, including affordability, energy efficiency and versatility.

“Given its proximity to Crewe, plus excellent commuter links and choice of schools nearby, Signaller’s Croft is sure to appeal to a variety of buyers. Kitchen in the 3-bedroom Hexham

“With growing demand for new homes in this pocket of Cheshire, we anticipate strong interest in these homes and would encourage interested buyers to apply early to avoid disappointment.”

Work originally started on Signaller’s Croft in 2021 but stalled in 2023 when the original contractor entered administration. Following a careful appraisal process, Lovell were chosen to take over work on the development and will deliver the first 139 new homes at Signaller’s Croft.

Onward Living will be opening the doors to its new show home and sales suite at Signaller’s Croft early in the new year.
